Rucksacks

Hi
At the end of this year I am travelling through out Indochina for about 6 weeks. I was wondering what would be the best pack for the job? i have one in mind at the moment which is the deuter quantum 55+10. The reason i like this is because i can get it for a reasonable price of AU$250 and that it can be open from the middle, so it can be packed abit more like a suitcase than a rucksack. Is this an ok bag or is there better?

Deuter is an ok brand, but 55+10 is too large. 40+10 or just 40 liters or even lower would be better. Try to keep the weight of your bag below 15 kgs and you'll have much more fun. Don't focus too much on getting a side-loading bag, I have one and ended up packing it like a top-loading one everytime I used it.

Consider looking at the Deuter Futura Vario 40+10 or the Deuter ACT lite 35+10 SL (=womens version) or ACT lite 40+10.
