Journey of a lifetime.

To all.

To all.

I am 22 years old and Living and working in London, UK.
I have recently decided that I will head out into the world and attempt a unique and challenging adventure that could take a whole year. The thought of working the same job as a Police Officer for the rest of my life is unnerving, as much as I love the work. Seeing thr darkest depths of humanity has propelled me into a sense of exploration.

Two years ago myself and my brother canoed a 600 mile stretch of the Yukon Wilderness. Starting at the capital, Whitehorse. Finishing in Dawson City. It was a trip that created a wild sensation in me that has not died down since. Being fully exposed to nature and the wild was the best feeling I have ever had. The flow of the river as our means of travel was a rhythum we should all travel at in daily life. The Yukon for anyone wanting to look it up; it borders Alaska, and to its South is British Columbia. All large areas of wilderness uninterferred with by humans.

I am looking to take another canoe voyage in June 2011. Starting at a location and ending up wherever I end up.
I have cited some inspiration from 'New York City to Nome, Alaska'. In 1936 two men canoed from NYC to Nome right on the coast of Alaska in a year. Unfortunately there is little on there trip, apart from one book, 'New York to Nome' byRick Steber. There is no exact distance given.

However this may give you an idea of what I am willing to undertake. A journey of a lifetime. For me it will be my steps on the moon.
I am looking at grants from the Royal Geographical Society, but so far the major expense is the flight and gear. Once you are on the river you are self sufficient.
Prior to the trip survival courses in England would be completed. Apart from that I'm a spontaneous person and learn as I go, as long as conditions alow.

If you have any experience please let me know. But this is a life changer for me, and is going to be one part of many.

Anyone want in?

Have you ever thought of travelling to Africa, wilderness areas, as one of the destinations for the same?. It will obviously give you an experience of a life time. This will give you another challenge and a new sense of life and adventure.
