Is working visa required for volunteering in Thailand?

Hi All,
I am an Indian and wish to volunteer in Thailand early next year. It is not clear whether a working visa is required for volunteering in Thailand or not.

Nisha,
Yes, you do need a working visa to volunteer in Thailand. Best option is to have the organization you want to volunteer with send you the paperwork needed. They submit paperwork to the Thai Gov't, you fill out your part and send it in. If all is in order, you will receive a work permit that allows you to volunteer while in Tland.

I have friends that run an NGO in Phnom Penh that can always use another pair of hands. No fees and no work permit needed. If interested, send me a PM. Mike

vegasmike6,
Thanks for your reply. I also thought so.
The problem is that the organization I am planning to volunteer with, says we do not need the visa which I can not fathom. Probably they do not want to do a paper work? Volunteering will be for a month.

Also, you had sent me 3 mail-ids of your friends who run NGO in Phnom Penh. I had written to them on 12th of this month. They have not responded to me so far. I would have preferred to work with them. Now that, time is running out, I have to look for other options.

Thanks all the same.

Nisha,
OK, I will contact my friends and see what is going on.

vegasmike6,
Thanks. Much appreciated.
