Newbie travelling couple...

My partner and I have travelled to Australia, but didn't do it correctly and plan before hand as was mostly staying with family, so needless to say it felt like a wasted trip by the end and never got to do half the things we'd do now in hindsight.

Bus gets you there eventually but many Americans fly on anything like a few hundred miles, and it's a big country. There are some cheap flights available from sites like skyauctions, priceline, etc. Accommodation is expensive and often best booked online (and you can of course book ahead).

America is expensive and £5k isn't going to go far for two people.

As you might have noticed, parts of America have already had a lot of unseasonal snow in October and you do not want to be caught in that. Leave yourself flexible so that if bad weather happens, you can head down south.

Thanks Cyberia... We've had a chat over the weekend and hoping to increase our budget to £8000. We're also going to try hire a camper van, as this way we're not restricted to the bus/trains stops and can bunk down in this aswell!!
