The best city to live in UK?

Hey, I'm Estonian girl who wants to go away from here. I'm looking for a city in the UK where is vital nightlife, but yet friendly vibe and many art galleries. Can you point out places where would it be cheaper to live and easier to get a job? It would be very nice if it had some good indie music venues and vintage stores. And maybe a place near to mountains and hills. I don't have a drivers license, because I like to walk or ride a bike.
I'm thinking of Scotland, maybe Glasgow, but am not sure. Maybe you could tell me what city am I looking for? :D I've been to London twice, but it is too expensive to live there.

You'd prefer Edinburgh to Glasgow in Scotland.

Have a look at the cities like Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds as these are the places where it will be easiest to find work. Brighton may suit you but I'm not sure about what museums there are although there are things to see there.

Definately say Edingburgh and maybe aslo Manchester....
Both have a thriving nightlife, big student scene, many bar's,restraunts and alot of culture, art galleries, museums etc etc....

I'd say Manchester is a bit depressing. Edinburgh sounds like the place you're looking for, but I'm so into London I would definitely choose it if I had a chance! Where do you live in Estonia, Tallinn?

Machester? Depressing?!!!! Never!!

Manchester does have all the above - lots of nightlife . I think it has the biggest student population in europe or the biggest university.

Has various art galleries. the main art gallery ( all are free, by the way) hasw a great collection of Pre Raphaelite paintings. The University has a large museum with a special section for Egyptology. The National War Museum has a award winning site. The city is multicoultural and has many cdheap restaurants for indian/pakistani food plus a thriving chinatown in the city centre.

Need I say it has the two famous & top two football teams in the Premier league, Manchester United & the "newcomers" Manchester City.

It is warmer than Scotland too!!!

Thank you all for answers! I'll go and check out Edinburgh and Manchester.

I live in Pärnu, the summer capital of Estonia. But I am not afraid of cold, we have -35 degrees here in winter and two months in a row. :D How cold does it get in Scotland?

You are not going to find cities in the UK with a great night life and having lots of Art Galleries that are inexpensive.

There are some vibrant cities to live in but at a cost.

Do you have work to come to, I think that is you first priority.

I agree with the rest of the guys here. Edinburgh is indeed a good place to go to. It's one of the best places I've ever been to.

I agree! Manchester is definitely not depressing in my opinion - I'm currently in the process of moving back to live there and am looking forward to it! It's a great city and is getting better all the time.
