asia or america this summer?

Hi,
Im trying to decide where to go on my summer holidays this year. Ive been to South east asia before, taking in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangkok. I loved it there but my travel companion this year is more keen on Western AMerica - vegas, san fran, l.a etc.
Im between minds. I could travel for longer in asia with reagrds to money.
SO!!! Can anybody tell me roughly how much would i need to budget to go to West coast america for 3 weeks? even roughly a daily estimate??
Are there airlines that do cheap flights between uk and america?

West coast America is an absurdly expensive trip unless you have a free place to stay with friends. You can rent a car for maybe $40 a day but food is pricey unless you know where to go, and America isn't the easiest place to find a hostel. They exist but you really have to look... If it was me I'd go back to Thailand, maybe travel north to Chiang Mai or south to the beaches. Way better bang for the buck!

I've always loved my travels in the States but I'm kinda leaning towards telling you to go for Asia...kugali above is right, hostels aren't big business in the USA like they are in other countries so you have to do a bit of research to find a cheap sleep for the night. I mean they can definitely be found, I've stayed at a couple along the way myself, but they're not always in easy locations etc etc. To give you an idea, one hostel I stayed at in LA, the Backpackers Paradise Resort, can offer you a dorm bed for around $20 (very big dorms though, up to 20 beds!), or a suite for about $70. If your accommodation budget is a little bigger, you can get some decent motel rooms, especially if you'll be sharing with a travel buddy. But as you rightly point out, your money would go much further in Asian countries! And you can always explore somewhere new in Asia, there really is endless culture and experiences to be had there

Asia definitely. Asia is changing rapidly growing and prices are increasing, while the US economy seems stagnant if not actually recessive. You'd get more bang for your buck in asia right now, and the states may actually get a bit cheaper down the road unless the economy picks up again.

Thanks for that guys. Im thinking either malaysia - thailand or india at the mo so i just need to do some research and see what the craic is with both options!
Cheers!!!

Hi birdmccabe,
India is one of the most popular tourist destinations. It is a multi-religious and multi-culture country. Last month I was in Rajasthan. Rajasthan is the largest state of India. The travel experience of Rajasthan is very nice. There are number of places in Rajasthan to travel.

Thanks for that. Does anyone have any info on India during the months of july and august? Is it a good time to travel there?
