campervan or bus

Hi

Hi

My friend and I were looking at the same thing, but we are going the opposite way, Sydney to Cairns.

We looked at the greyhound tickets which worked out quite well as they include different activities too.

The greyhound you can get on and off as many times as you like, but you can only travel one way.

Would have loved the camper van option though.

Good luck.

Aby

Hey Aby, I'm planning on going from melbourne to cains. Landing in Melbourne beginning of March. Was thinking about campervan if I could find people doing the same thing. I have also looked in greyhound bus pass and they do seem really good

How long are you taking to travel from Sydney to Cairns? A van is generally better for long term travel because you can offset the cost of fuel by camping, but if you're only travelling for a short time the Greyhound bus pass is a good option. It also means you don't have to worry about your van if you choose to spend a week sailing in the Whitsundays or camping on Fraser Island.

Thanks for the replies.

We would be looking around the 5-6 week mark for the trip into Sydney and then a week or so in Sydney itself. I've looked further into the grayhound options and it seems good value for money but still can't decide.

Tim have your drove the route before and if yes was did you enjoy the driver?

Ady good luck with your trip and its a shame we are going the opposite ways.

I've driven Sydney-Cairns a couple of times, taking about 4 weeks for the trip and enjoyed it both times. I drove my own car which makes it easier for me to choose to drive without hiring or buying one for the trip, being a 4x4 it can also get into some of the less accessable camp areas and over to Fraser Island.

Whichever way you go you'll have a great time, best not to worry about it too much
