China from May to August 2012

Hi, I trying to plan the best way to spend the whole summer in China. Budgeting for this can be really trick, and I am considering the possibility of working there, if available.
For the most part, I would like to get feedback on different things to take in consideration, to make a checklist of sorts. I have a contact in China, possibly two, who will help me with accommodations for some of the time, but not all.
An resources you can send my way are appreciated, and any discussion will be very helpful.

Wow... no replies.
Am I doing something wrong?

Your question is rather broad, and as you provide no information about what kind of things you're looking for during your trip (culture, nature, adventure, ...), you also provide no starting point for people to give you help. Maybe try asking some very specific questions that you're actively researching.
It's also been only ~16 hours since you posted your question; some people only look here once a day (or every other day), and I don't think we have that many members who're knowledgeable about China. Patience might help as well.

Great, Sander! ...you are right I've been somewhat impatient. I guess I've been researching, so I have better ideas about the general gist of my question, and wanted to learn from other's experience in China, preferably long term stays that involved not working there at all.

How did such traveller spend his/her money? I'm ok with shoestringing all the way, not easily discomforted. As for the activities, I think I prefer to find less touristy places/sites, and places I can enjoy without much expense, like the Guangdong Bamboo Forest, or the Long Mu Tai Miao - Dragon Mother Temple in Zhaoqing.

I also perceive I will be spending a bulk of time in south China, though I get a feeling it will be very humid.

My apologies, this is in fact the first time I use a forum, and was concerned seeing so many responses for some posts and not others. Thank you for your presence Sander.

Whant kind of job are you intrested in? My friends said it is very easy to find a job in China for foreigners. She is a college teacher there.

Given my length of stay, I feel it would be difficult. Potentially because I will want leisure time along with work, and because work will allow me to budget my trip differently. I am applying at editing internships, and some teaching positions, but knowing the importance of continuity in the classroom setting, I feel that a short-lived job would be best for me.

I'm trying to avoid all the internet traps that claim jobs galore but cost more than they provide.

Thanks!

(happy honeymoon, read your other post; congrats!)
