Dubai Accomodation

So going by the minor research I've been doing today, are Hostels/Backpackers non existent in Dubai?

Hi Makka,

I travelled by myself Dubai about 2 months and was looking for cheap accomodation.
I stayed at a hotel called London Crown 2 the cheapest I could find, I stayed for 6 nights and paid approximately AU$280 about $40 per night.

It was fairly basic but good for budget accomodation own room with double bed and bathroom. It wasn't exactly central but anything central will cost significantly more. It was only approx AU$14 to get into the centre by taxi. Any day tours you do they will pick you up from the hotel.

I did manage to find 1 backpackers in Dubai (can't remember the name) but it wasn't much cheaper than that and was significantly further away from being central, and not of a very good standard at all.

Hope that helps a bit

Yeah this came up in my searches as one of the cheaper options too. Just good to clarify that I haven't missed out on any backpackers/hostels.

Did you travel solo? if so, how did you find it? easy meeting fellow travellers?

Also, would you say 1 week is enough or too long a stay for Dubai?

I'm planning to do a desert safari, skydive, burj kalifah, burj al arab, jumeirah beach & possibly the indoor skiing @ the mall.

I travelled solo I was on my way to London moving from Australia and thought I'd do a stop over. I was there for 6 nights and found that a good amount of time. A week should be fine definately wouldn't go any longer than that.

I didn't meet many other travellors there, only a few on the tours that I did.

The desert safari was definately one of the highlights for me. With things like the Burj Al Arab and Jemeirah beach the best way to do them all is by going on the open top bus which takes you to all the major sights and you can get on and off as you please, you can get either a single day or 2 day pass. They also offer a night tour which is pretty cool as well.

Make sure you book the Burj Khalifa a few days in advance if you plan on going to the top, I left it till my last day not knowing that you had to make a booking and missed out because they were fully booked out.
