Hi Harry, I have worked at 2 different camps in the USA and definitely recommend the experience. I used CCUSA the first time and Camp America the 2nd time, although out of those 2 would have to say I preferred CCUSA for the level of service they provided. The first camp I worked at I was a general counselor at a camp for underpriveleged children in Indianapolis. It was a really rewarding and challenging experience and I'd really recommend underprivileged camps based on my positive experiences. At the 2nd camp I was the Art Director and it was a camp for Jewish children in Mountain City, GA. It had a lot more money than the 1st camp and the children came from rather privileged backgrounds so it was quite a different experience to the 1st camp. Enjoyable, but not so rewarding, and dare I say not quite so appreciative.
The beer theft incident is something camp directors will probably question you about when they come to interview you but I'm not sure how/if it will affect you getting the visa. Hopefully not, camp is a great experience, it'd be a shame to miss out because of something like that! Good luck in your applications, any questions feel free to PM me

Another similar organisation is Bunac (or IEP in Aus/NZ), which has been around for a long time and I have had some experience of them. Based on what I've heard and read, my order of preference would probably be Bunac/IEP, CCUSA, Camp America.

I have worked summer camp in the USA for two summers running and I am all set to go back this summer
Working at camp is amazing fun and you literally get paid to play... just imagine creating the funnest holiday experience as possible for kids and getting to join in and meet new people who share the same interests as you from all over the world... and that's what working at camp is like.
I've went to a different camp each year. My first two years I worked at YMCA camps which were a lot of fun! The first year my camp was in Pennsylvania and the second year I went to California.
This year I'm going back to Pennsylvania to work at a different type of camp which is located on Villanova University campus and I can't wait!
I have never heard of the company you mentioned... I go through a company called BUNAC who have always helped me get my jobs at the best camps and have came in have been really organised and reliable when it comes to getting my working visa and flights etc.
BUNAC offer loads of programmes all over the world and so if your interested in this kinda thing you should check them out
