Roadtrip in Morocco

Hi everyone I found this forum and signed up because in this summer me and my friends are planning to make a roadtrip in Morocco, but I have several concerns that I'd like too see cleared.

You worry too much.

My tips:

  • Sleeping: Best park the car on one of the many camping sites. There will be plenty of people with campervans there, it is the safest option. In the cities like Fes and Marrakech shell out for hotel rooms. Morocco is ridiculously cheap compared to European countries, the savings of sleeping in the car are not as substantial as in Europe.
  • Crime:Watch your back. Morocco is a hotspot for drug smuggling, the crime rates in some cities are really high. Do not go out alone at night and do not sleep in the car in these seedy places.
  • can we still understand what the roadsigns say ? Of course, most of the time they will be in French too, not just Arabic. And all you really need are the signs indicating place names and directions.

I also read that women shouldn't dress skirts or shorts and I think we'll have a problem with that because both girls are against this idea because it will be summer.

Skirts are ok, but they should be at least knee length. Skin-tight strappy tops and open cleavage are also a bad idea. A bare midriff is a complete no-go.

Reason for this is that any female dressing like that is an open invitation. If your girls don't want to be grabbed and sexually harrassed by Moroccan guys they should follow the rules.

I recommend the following styles:

Note that if you guys play super-jealous boyfriends and overprotective brothers your girls will have it easier. If a Moroccan guy just looks at them too long give that guy the glare of death. Grabbing and touching (even just hand and underarm) should result in a black eye. You get the drift.
