I am a native Californian. The weather is very good here, but you pay for it with crowded cities, expensive housing and high taxes.
Respectfully, if I were raising four school age children, I'd consider Arizona (outside city of Phoenix area.) The housing is quite cheaper, the school systems are not overrun, quality of life is good and California is one day's car drive or a one hour airline flight away.
