I am planning to travel to Thailand durin december. My Plan is relax, visit few places and actually live the life in Thailand instead of being touristy. I love beer, food & would love few joints if possible. Can you please suggest a good itinerary

If you mean smoking dope keep in mind that the penalties for drug possession is very severe! There are foreigners in Thai jails right now who thought they wouldn't get caught!
Kids who like dope go to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon parties.
Don't get too far from "touristy" areas where you are the only Farang around because you could be come a target. Foreigners are often thought of as being wealthy.
If you intend to use credit or debit cards don't forget to notify your bank that you will be overseas. If not your ATM withdrawals may be denied.
When you need hotel recommendations always mention how much you want to spend per night for a room - use a baht amount.
I reccommend that You go Krabi or Phuket

If you visit the islands, make sure you check out Tong sai bay. It's not a place on the tourist agenda but definitely worth the vist. It's a hidden gem and you'll have a lot of fun there. The rooms are affordable. I got a bungalow to myself for 100 baht per night. Electricity only runs from 6pm to 6am. It is definitely a true nature experience. No distractions from technology. You can meet a lot of people in the bars and on the beach. You can also get some good joints there. The bay is small and far from civilisation so people smoke openly without any fear of police intervention. You can order joints at the bar like any other item on the menu. Have fun.
Thailand has lots of beautiful beach. There is always a variety on each island if you go looking for it, but below is a quickie summary:
Koh Samui - Large and very touristy (Lamai Beach, Lamai Beach, Chaweng Beach)
Koh Phangan - Haad Rin is beach party central! (Haad Rin)
Koh Tao - Cheapest scuba around and nice small island
Krabi/Railay - beautiful, rock climbing heaven, expensive (Railay Beach, Phi Phi Island, Ao Nang, Koh Lanta)
Koh Phi Phi - gorgeous, small, expensive, great diving
Koh Lanta - large, fairly quiet, Long beach is the best beach
Phuket - busy, loads of package tourists and vacationers (Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Kata Beach)
Koh Pu - very small and quiet, tree house bungalows
Koh Chang - Nice beaches, lots of tourists from Bangkok (White Sand Beach )
Rogerlong has summed up most of the places I was goingto say, Phi Phi was by far my faviourite it has the best of both worlds beautiful beaches and great nightlife and is very laid back, with Phuket being the least fav as its just a tourist place that gves me the creeps due to all the sex workers and seedy old men (and becoming young as well from what i saw when i was last there) going around trying to hook up with thai girls. if you want to have a massive party then go to Koh Phangan for a full moon party (just google to find the homepage and you can look up when and if there will be one while you are in Thailand) you will have no trouble in meeting people our group went from 3 people to 6 at one stage for nearly a month as we met people who would tag along and party with us in different cities. I spent nearly 5 months throughout South East Asia and it is one place that I will continue to re visit when ever i get a chance to Holiday
