Thailand is pretty touristy so probably safer than many people imagine.. although, like any country, just stay away fromt eh 'dodgy' areas.
I have a female friend looking to go to thailand around that time also if you want some company. What country are you from? She is in the UK.
Great, that's sort of what I figured.
I'm certainly open to the idea of having a traveling companion. I'll be coming from Israel as I am currently living here, so the UK isn't too far away!
Being such a popular tourist destination, Thailand has more than its share of petty thieves and scammers. Keep a short leash on your money and personal belongings.
For the most part, the only real trouble visitors get into involves alcohol or drugs.
In February 2011 I'm also travelling to Thailand alone. And I'm just an 18 year old girl so a little anxious! I'm starting in Bangkok, then making my way to Chiang Mai. After that I'll head to Vang Vieng in Laos. I'll then head back down to Bangkok and go over to the islands (Koh Samui and Koh Phangen). Finally I'll head to Koh Phi Phi and return to Bangkok for my flights home! It's a lot of travelling to do alone and I will do this over three months. I plan on staying in youth hostels so hopefully I'll make lots of friends along the way. I'm open to the idea of having a travelling buddy so send me a message if you want to know more or if you're interested at all!
Thailand has always been great place to visit especially the beaches of the southern region. It is certainly a paradise for travelers, Thailand has achieved remarkable achievements in the fields of fine arts like music, dance, paintings, sculpture and crafts

Hi there,
Well actually Thailand is a very famous spot for tourism, and they are most likely to have experience different situations based on the past. Security is well defined in Thailand, however, it is still best to travel with common sense and with the sense of keeping yourself safely. Hope this advice helps a bit in terms of travelling wisely.
Cheers
