Is my passport valid?

LoreleiLee has indicated that this thread is about USA

You say you're in the UK so assuming you hold a UK Passport here's the situation: The US has an agreement with the UK to automatically extend the validity of a passport for six months past the passport's expiration date. So, as long as you leave before that date, immigration shouldn't be a problem.

Lastly, you shouldn't trust an anonymous Internet travel forum for these kind of legal questions. Simply go right to the source, the US Embassy in the UK:

Have fun.

Agreed this is not the right place for you to come, definitely contact the american consultate in the UK to verify what your rights are and confirm whether or not this will be an issue. Traveling is coming more difficult and the rules keep changing, you are better off speaking to someone who has the authority to advise you on such matters.

My direct link in Post #2 confirms the correct info...

Yes that is some excellent advice offered thus far. Always consult with the proper authorities. Beyond that obvious advice LoreleiLee, might I also suggest that you tie your shoes, button your jacket, brush your teeth, comb your hair, look both ways before crossing the street, never talk to strangers, stay out of dark alleys, change your underpants daily(you never know when you might be in an accident) and call your mother when you arrive...but not necessarily in that order. Jeezz man, who are these guys, the travelerspoint police.."YOU SHOULDN'T TRUST AN ANONYMOUS INTERNET TRAVEL FORUM"..."THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR YOU TO COME"...it's good advice...for a twelve year old...I'm cracking up.

I'm sure this was offered with the best intentions, so don't mind me.

Good luck on your trip to the states LoreleiLee, I hope you enjoy yourself. This is actually a pretty good forum to get practical advice from locals around the world - without condescension - most of the time.

There was no condescension whatsoever in my answer to her question. It was simply accurate, common sense advice. No big deal.

Tranquilo.

Cheers,
Terry
