Residency Problem

Hello everyone! I read this site quite a bit as I am frequently traveling and have found very much useful information on here. Now I have a difficult question and I'd like to ask you all for your input-

Well, I think your best option is just go to the Netherlands and try to sort it out from there.

I don't think you have too much to fear from a bunch of unpaid bills. If things get really nasty you'll just have to take a quick flight back to the US.

Regardless of your visa status as a US-citizen you can always enter the Netherlands visa-free as a tourist, but you are limited to 90 days max.

BTW, if you fiance will be working in a city close to the Belgium or German border you could both look into living in Germany or Belgium. Applying for a Belgium or German residency might be a short-term solution to your problem. Also, is your fiance Dutch? If you both get married it might also solve a bunch of your problems - as the spouse of an EU-citizen you would be entitled to a residency permit that allows you to be with him.
