I am leaving for Costa Rica in a couple weeks, I don't want to have to buy a cheap non-refundable ticket to fly out of Peru with b/c I am not sure when and where I will leave from. I do not want to buy a more expensive refundable ticket b/c I won't have much money. I am trying to buy a bus ticket, or other type of proof of onward passage , online and I was hoping someone could help point my in one or more directions. Thanks!
Why don't you buy another ticket when you are in country. I've flown to Costa Rica and no one's asked me for an onward ticket.
It very much depends upon whether the airline which you take to fly to Costa Rice requires proof of you leaving that country after your visit. The reason is that immigration officials in Costa Rica may refuse entry to obviously poor beggars and shove them to the airline that imported them in the first place. This doesn't happen often, but it may.
The trick is to either buy a refundable return ticket from the airline (not easy or cheap), or a bus ticket from the point of landing to another country. Searching the website costaricabybus.com will guide you to safepassage where you can purchase a bus ticket on-line. This is cheap (utmost $ 8) but your airline may not fall for this trick.
