WHV Australia or New Zealand? Help!

Hi guys,

It will be winter in new zealand and oz in July but i imagine that you will be staying for quite some time if you are going to the bother of getting a WHV. NZ starts warming up from August.
Summer =December, January, February
Autumn =March, April, May
Winter = June, July, August
Spring = Sept, October, November

Although Australia probably has more job opportunitys, NZ has plenty of jobs for backpackers. I think NZ is more backpacker friendly than OZ and is really set up for backpacking. NZ has so much to see in such a small space and it is easy to see many things where as OZ is extremely vast and it is hard to see much unless you have a lot of time and money to travel.

An alternative adventure for you would be to get a working holiday visa for Canada. It will be summer in Canada in July plus you will be doing something very different to everyone else........

July would be the perfect time to be in the Northern part of Australia. I love New Zealand, but I decided to come to Australia for my WHV because there are much more jobs than in Kiwiland... (although I have to admit I'm thinking to go to NZ after my visa in Oz ended...). Cairns would be a great place to start, it is very touristic and offers a lot of possibilities, and with the seasons changing you can travel down the East Coast till you reach Melbourne during summer. Along the way there will be a lot of possibilities to work (fruit picking, hostels, etc.) and to do (surfing, bushwalking, skydiving, diving, snorkeling, partying, ...). Just get a car and maybe a few people together to do that...

Both NZ and Oz are very easygoing, but I always think of Australia being the easier to get along country (but that might just be my own impression).
And while Canada sounds also like a good idea, a WHV usually means one year in one country and I wouldn't like to do a winter in Canada... The coldest we had in Sydney this year was about 10° I think, so it was still very nice compared to a Winter in Europe or Canada...
