Colombia, My Experience, and a short montage film.

Hey travelers.

Really nice video Tom, it brought back lots of great memories from one of my favourite countries in the Western Hemisphere.

I work in commercial film production and Colombia definitely has the opportunity to become the "next big thing" following in the footsteps of South Africa, New Zealand, Iceland, Argentina, Chile, etc. IF (and that's a big "if") they play their cards right.

It's a small world, perhaps we'll bump into each other.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
Terry

Moderators: Fortunately I caught Tom's website before it was deleted, but is there a way to follow proper forum posting guidelines and still let other forum members know about your non-commercial website? Could it be posted in your profile, or perhaps elsewhere on the forum?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks Terry I´m glad you enjoyed the video. I obviously didn´t fully read the guide lines, so I apologize. Can I at least please link to the Youtube video? as that was a large part of the article. I don't want to be spamming the forum or anything, I just genuinely wanted to share some amazing images of Colombia as I genuinely think it is an incredible country.

Terry, thats great. I have a couple of film projects here in Colombia and hope to work on my first feature film here in Bogota late next year. Colombia has really given me some amazing opportunities. The people have welcomes me with open arms. (I am from New Zealand so I am very happy with current state of the film industry back home).

A great film that shows some of the areas I (was trying to) show in the short video is called Los Viajes Del Viento. I have noticed, since arriving a year ago that the film industry here has been growing pretty rapidly.

Thanks again Terry,

Would be great to bump into each other!

PS. Please Moderator can I link a youtube video to the article (without my personal website) as it really isn´t anything person.

I hope I don´t get into trouble but this is the link just to the video about Colombia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1Be9vtLN_g, I don't think I am breaking any rules as it isn´t advertising, its not personal information etc.

Enjoy the beauty of Colombia.

Thanks, Tom.

Hi Tom and welcome to Travellerspoint!

I have viewed your photo montage and will leave the link since you say the posting of it was not promotional in nature. Stating you are a documentarian by profession in your profile (and in this thread) does lead Moderators, and Administrators alike, to think otherwise and with good reason. The majority of first time posters placing such links do so for promotional purposes. I am taking you at your word such is not the case here. (Please don't prove me wrong.)

If you haven't done so already, you can add your website to your profile information. It will not be visible to the TP community until your have reached the 'Full Member' status. The easiest way to do that is by contributing helpful responses in the forums.

I highly recommend starting a blog on TP. It's easy. The forums are basically places where members can ask for and receive information. Articles and links, such as the montage, are a much better fit for the blog area. If you continue to place them in the forums, there's a very good chance they will be snipped again and (possibly) your membership inactivated due to promotional reasons. You have great material for a blog - it just doesn't fit the criteria of the forums.

Hi Tom and welcome to Travellerspoint!

Thank you. I will head over and check out the blog. May be promotional at times, but really it is promotion of Colombia, which I think needs people writing about it more.

Thank you for allowing the link.

Tom

Not a problem - it comes down to a judgement call and I understand why the original URLs were 'snipped'. I would have done the same if I'd come across the post before my co-moderator or Admin made the decision.

If you really want to write about Colombia, then I recommend the section. Like the forums, the information is moderated but also allows more latitude. If you have stayed in a particular accommodation you really liked (or disliked), you can write a review in the accommodations area. Between your own blog, the travel guide and accommodation areas, you'll be fine. Don't forget to answer forum questions and consider becoming a 'travel helper' for the countries you have visited.

TP gives you several options for sharing information. It's also one of the top-rated travel sites because of it's control of spam, promotional material, inflammatory comments and the alike. (Not to mention excellent travel information! Sorry, that was a 'given'.)

Great film Tom-loved the shots of Cabo la Vela!

I really really enjoyed that. Thanks for sneaking the link back in. I can't quite get why it wasn't allowed, though. I love Colombia, and believe it is a great place to go...So I am against people promoting it, for the most part....But that was really really good. I loved the closing image...that was just...well, dangerous for me, because my feet just got itchy to go back there.
