First trip to Europe

Hi guys! I am planning my first trip to Europe but I don't know where would be a good start point. Any tips for hotel or bed and breakfast would be appreciated too. I planned to go with a friend that know well Europe but she can't come and I am thinking to go alone.

Europe is easy to do on your own. To give a better answer, we need to know when you are going, how long you are going for, what kind of budget you have and some idea of what you want to see and do.

London is a fairly good place to start, with a lot to see, and easy access to the rest of the UK. It is also a travel hub, which despite government taxes still has a lot of cheap flights all over Europe, though you can take a train to Paris, and later go on from there.

Lots of booking sites for budget accommodation. Using public transport is the easiest way of getting around in a big city, and it helps if you stay somewhere fairly central, and say near a subway or train stop.

Take lots of photos so you can show your friend what she missed when you get back.

I don't want to go in winter time. When will be the best time to go? April, august or september? I want to plan to stay a month but I have no idea about costs. I am looking for some place affordable, not hostels, I would like to have privacy. Will bed and breakfast be a good idea? I want to get from Europe the most I can in a month, go to museums, historical places, festivals, clubs and bars. What will be an estimated daily expenses. I'm starting my plan to the trip and I am taking all advices I can. All help is truly appreciated. I am considering to start from London. I wish my friend could come, she lived in London and know well Europe. I am kind of nervous and excited to go on my own but don't want to give up on my plans. I've go to do this!!! Thanks for helping!

It all depends on your interests and how you travel. I would recommend going by train, which in Europe can be done quite affordable and comfortable, and you can see some of the countryside on your way from one big city to another. You can even get off on smaller places.

A possible itenerary could be: London - Amsterdam - Paris - Barcelona - Nice - Rome - Venice - Prague - Berlin. Wonderful cities all of them, and quite varied as well. In addition you get to see seven countries (at least). This route is long, perhaps too long.

Check out the city guides here on Travellerspoint when it comes to museums and what do do.

Europe is fascinating, more varied than the US i believe, and easy to travel.

Hi there,

The diversity you will find in Europe is quite amazing, different countries, different food, different languages

Why not flying to Lisbon (my wonderful city) and from here take the train to Madrid, Barcelona and then choose the way to go to Paris etc etc.

Have fun,

hi, i'm also looking for some travel buddies. i'm going to be arriving in madrid in mid march - may then going to barcelona, marseille, paris, amsterdam, london, edinburgh. I think. My itinerary isn't solidified.......

Hi Christine, Ellen and Carley!

I’m also looking to do a bit of travelling around Europe hoping to use Spain as a base and work from there.. I’m going it alone too so could use the company. I live in London currently and I’m more than happy to accommodate people who fancy a trip to London first before travels to show them around! I live very close to central London so always a big advantage.. Get in touch if you are interested or anybody else who comes by this post!

Little about me as im new to the site

Im 24, graduated from uni three years ago, back at home in London saving to go travelling and on the side I dabble in theatre production!

XXX

My name is Seyi btw!
