Like yourself i have a years work visa, planning on enjoying myself for a month or so before getting stuck in and earning some $$ for more partying and traveling
Im going on my own, apart from maybe the looooong boring flight i think on your own is the best way, im sure others will agree!!
Have you thought about what hostel you'll be heading to?

Im arriving in Sydney on the 16th of January, like yourselves going on my own. Im bricking it to be honest but excited at the same time, looking forward to having a change!
Havent really got a plan set in stone, but was thinking of getting a job in Sydney first before moving p the east coast then end up in Perth at the end of the year.
How long are you 2 staying in Sydney for, and what hostels are you staying at?

Yes even I am going to OZ in last week of December. Initially i am planning to stay in Melbourne Hotels as i want to do some sightseeing there and then move towards Sidney in the 2nd week of January. Hope to meet you in Sidney.

Good to hear there are so many solo travellers! Its really exciting to see and I have chatted to a few people who have done the work/holiday visa alone, and met loads of people!
I think I am going to stay in Wake up Hostel in Sydney- It looks like a good place to arrive and very central etc!

What hostels are you guys going to stay at! Would be wicked to stay at the same one!
I think I am only going to book for a few days and then was thinking about moving on to another one etc. Dont really want to be tied down for a longer stay at a hostel. Especially if you do meet people and you can get a better deal on a three bed hostel rather than staying in a 8 dorm!
Not sure how long I will be in Sydney for- I want to travel as much as possible before I need to get a job!! So maybe Sydney for a week (Also was thinking about doing my RSA courses while there)
How long are you guys plannign on being there for?

Yeah think ill book into wake up for the first few days, it seems to be a little more expenisve than some of the others - but looks popular! Lol nikky ive never stayed in an 8 bed dorm, im sure it'll be interesting!!
I too quite like the idea of traveling as much as possible before i have to work, so i cant imagine ill be in sydney for more than 1/2 weeks.. That being said, if i land work in sydney i doubt ill turn it down!!
RSA course is something i was thinking about, and is it 'green card'? that would enable me to work on a building site!! anything that may help me become rich

Yea I did see a few cheaper options for hostels, but at least with this one, its so central and looks like a good starting point! As you arrive before me let me know if you find a better one and Ill maybe join you at that hostel when I arrive!
I am DREADING staying in a 8 bed room. I need to make sure to pack sleeping pills and ear plugs. lol
Also, on the same tip as you and would like to travel as much as possible before deciding to stay somewhere and start work! Also if I can see the best places to work at if i do a bit of travelling first! I know a really good website that does courses for the green card, RCA etc. They are also amazing as they arrange your bank account number and tax file number for you for such a small fee.

I was going to go Wake up, but thought it was a bit too big for I wanted for my 1st week there, ended up going for Blue parrot, heard god stuff about it anywho.
Ye I agree bout the 8 bed dorm, the worst thing would be to end up with people you hate..ear plugs is essential I say, God knows what noises will be heard..ha
Dont bother with paying fro bank account and tax file number, suppose to be easy to set up, just walk into a bank when you arrive, and you can get the TFN on line as soon as you arrive.
I'm not going to bother with RSA because I'm not experienced in bar work and i think most backpackers will be going down that root.
Hello, decided to pack up n go travelllin literally last week n got my visa n flight sorted now!! i travel 16th Jan n think its the morn of 18th i arrive in Sydney ----so excited!!
Iv been looking at hostels n Wake up defo seems to be popular which is defo what I need in order to meet some like minded ppl as Im travelling alone!
