Where was this photo taken?

Hello everyone;

Hello, this looks like Zante to me (a Greek Island) I have been myself, lovely place I went to Laganas though (the clubbing bit) so If you want 18-30s crowd go there lol. Otherwise have lots of other things to do for example seeing the giant tutles... something I wanted to do but never got around to it. Hope this helps, have a fun trip

Hello, i agree this island looks like Zante or some similar greek island, and yeh as they say over there if you want to know the route to llanganas...follow the sick.

however my family and i own a villa in Kephalonia. its a greek island opposite Zakinthos. it truly is beautiful and has some exquisite beaches, just not the 18-30 english clubbers!

-snip-

If youre interested please private message me and i can send you a link to our villa, were not a business so were not that expensive, just a family who fell in love with the island and built our own villa there, weve converted the basement into a lovely apartment with pool and luxurious views, which we rent out mostly to friends and family.

For future reference, on how to find out something like this yourself: Putting that image into (a website which tells you where an image comes from, also finding modifications or very similar ones) gives me 9 hits, four of which give you the name (which is the same as the Zante named by others in this thread) without even having to click through. (That guide article here on the site even has a photo of the same cove.)

Thanks so much for everyone's help...... Hopefully she doesn't change the destination on me. And Sander, I never knew such a website existed so thank you.

The photo is definitely Zante or it is sometimes known as Zakynthos. The story is that is was carrying illegal cigarettes and was being chased by the Greek Navy when it ran aground.

It is located on the western side of the island and is only accessible by boat. Hiring a speed boat is the best and quickest way to see it. You can't reach it by road as the cliffs are way to high but you can get to the top of the cliffs and stand on a viewing platform to look down. Not for the faint hearted!!!

I've also heard from recent visitors that due to the large numbers of pleasure boats visiting the wreck, there is a real litter problem on that particular beach...yuk!!

Another great fact about Zante is the turtle nesting sites! I've witnessed baby turtles hatching and the crawling their way down to the waters edge. This takes place on Kalamaki Beach in the south.
