I'm planning an RTW trip and just trying to get ideas as it relates to price. If you were to backpack around South America for a few months how much reasonably would you need to survive? Would say €1250-1500 be enough?
Marcus,
I'm really beginning to be seriously annoyed by your question, which is the same every time in all forums. I'll ask the moderator to remove this thread, it essentially being cross-posting the same question over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Marcus - South America is a very big place. Since you have been more forthcoming with information in your other threads, would you be so kind as to do so here too. Again, members can't really give you more than a yes or no answer when they have so little to work with for an itinerary. Vague requests only illicit vague replies. Thanks in advance.
€1500 ÷ 60 days= €25
That's less than the minimum $50/day I usually recommend.
You could do a trip with that small amount of money but it would be travelling hard and slow.
I did six weeks through, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru (including the expensive machpicchu and cuzco) and then back down through chile to santiago for only 700 pounds stirling... that including about 80 quid on presents and postage and losing 45 quid in a casino.
We lived and did everything cheap. I was travelling with my then Chilean girlfriend and doing it the "latino way" ie not the "gringo way"
You spend what you have mate. I say that much for a month is fine.
.....I say that much for a month is fine.
So would I but he's says he wants to go for two (2) months.
700/6 = 117 x 9 weeks is about 1050 GBP. About €1250. Yep, doable
Still, avoid more expensive countries and certainly avoid the desire to visit like 8 countries or so because transportation costs add up.
Thanks for the replies. No, I meant that much for a single month. Would that be enough?
Well, I'm glad that's cleared up!
Marcus' first post said "a few months" which SamSalmon equated to "he's says he wants to go for two (2) months" and Marcus finally verified as "I meant that much for a single month".
Reminds me of a game of "telephone" - a circle of people all whispering the same message in the next person's ear - it's amazing the results. Unsure what I mean? Please read the above comment.
Isa now returns this thread to it's regularly schedule topic - Is €1250-1500 enough for one month traveling around SA?
That's lots no worries-have a fine time.
