I am a non us citizen living in usa legally under temporary work permit. I have completed my job assignment and intend to return to my homeland. While I am flying back to my homeland, I would like to visit the Schengen area for tourism.
My question is on filling out the visa application form. They specifically ask my occupation, what should I write? do I need to get my previous employer to write me a letter that I have completed my Job. Or should I just put in unemployed. Would writing that effect my chances of getting a visa?
You're Asian or African? In that case, DON'T state that you're unemployed. You will definitely be denied a visa. Better ask your former employer for a letter.

They would ask that your employer write a letter stating that you intend to go back by a specific date and that you are just on leave. The consul would also be asking for your latest bank statements (3months at least, some ask for 6 months) and payslips.
Thanks for replying. I just called the embassy and they said that I could write that I was a graduate and attach a copy of my degree.
