What's the ideal length of a trip to SE Asia?

Hello all,

You will need visas in some cases. Much of Asia is cheap but Hong Kong and Singapore has expensive accommodation. The trouble with Chinese New Year is that most things are shut and once you have overdosed on parades, it can be boring. You do have ample time to see all the places you want to see, if you do not chill out on a beach for a month. Distances can be quite big in Asia so consider internal flights. There are a number of cheap airlines, even in and out of China.

This time is high season for these places so ideally you should book some accommodation in the next few months, particularly for Jan and Feb. North China does get a bit cold that time of year (below zero in places) whereas down south it is usually warm to hot. Expect generally hot and sticky for elsewhere in Asia so air-con is worth paying extra for.
