Oz. July 2011. Good places to go?

Hi, ii'm going to be 18 when I go to Australia in July of 2011. I'm female.

Visit the Great barrier reef and go snorklling or diving...the clear bue water, sun shining...was absolutly gorgeous, and also surfing, go and stay at some of the surfing camps along the east coast, these were my two highlights for sure!

well if you happen to be in Melbourne at any point, feel free to shout out! I should be there in July. Hopefully working! ha.

It's always good to meet a fellow traveller!

Good luck!

Yea that sounds great I will be at some point so I'll keep you posted!!

The Kimberly, you will see the real Australia. Go from Darwin to Broome with a side trip to Wolf Creek !

Sydney Harbour is amazing ..... then on to Melbourne where I live - it's the best! We are very friendly too If in Melbourne, take a trip down to the surf cities ie Lorne, Torquay and further on to visit the 12 Apostles - it's a pretty amazing coastline.
good luck

Hey guys if you're coming in July, stay northor west unless you like the idea of doing things in the cold. Sydney will be wet and raining at worst, and cold but sunny at best.
There will be snow in August if you're here for that long, but the ski season is pretty expensive, so much so that a lot of Aussies find it cheaper to fly to New Zealand rather than ski here in Australia.
Melbourne will be beautiful and has a lot of cultural stuff to see, but I like it because it has a more international flavour. For real 'Australian' stuff, the cliche stuff from the movies, its a great time of year to do a lot of outdoor exploring particularly through South Australia with several tours that will take you up past Uluru.
I don't know about the other capitals, I'd probably look at Brisbane first. The hostels there are all pretty new and the prices are good. All the hostels in Australia will recommend the things for backpackers to do locally.
I would recommend that you plan any of the outdoor adventure type stuff for this time of year as the weather will often be sunny, but its not too hot so its great to be outdoors.
Cheers
