Kullu and Manali

We are going a week trip to Kullu and Manali this April. We are 3 couples with kids. We r planning to reach Kullu crossing Kangra valley in the historic toy train. Please help to plan this

Dear Naseer,

Greetings from Himachal,

It will be great to have you in my homestate. You should fiirst come to Pathankot.....get the toy train to Kangra....drive to Dharamsala spend about 2 days there. Ideally at Kangra station you should have a cab who should be with you throughout. Some good places between Kangra and Kullu are Mandi and the Great Himalayan National Park ( www.tirthanvalley.com) , Do that and then land up in manali. from where you can catch a volvo back to delhi . My home town Kullu has everything to offer......you will see lots of snow , do paragliding, rafting, visit Gods and what not ...how old are you kids and what kind of holiday you are looking forward to

a) Active Holidays including nature walks, camping, adventure, more nature
b) Sight seeing holiday more of popular and crowded holidays in hotels

Do let me know and i can guide you more. April is a beautiful time to come and you will love it here.

Cheers

Hi Ankit,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
We r 3 couples and 8 kids. 2 of them less than 4, 2 of them 4-6, 2 of them 6-8 and 1 13yr. We have almost finalised everything. We start from Delhi on 3rd April night for Pathankot. On 4th morning we'll catch the train for Joginder Nagar. That reaches J Nagar around 7.30 PM. Then we'll go to Manali by cab. So we r there in Manali on 4th evening. On 7th evening we have to start back to Delhi. A bit too short? And we plan just to have some sightseeing, especially snow. No camping, adventure etc. We have booked room at Solang.
1) Will we need heavy winter clothing like jackets, gloves etc.? Or simple sweater will do?
2)Where can we see snow in April?(you wrote we can see lots of snow) At Rothang Pass ?
3)What can we do in Kullu?

Please advice.

Naseer Hussain
