travelling through Mexico :)

HI all,

Have you read the warning

Thanks for the reply dawgon I did read this before I left, it was more peoples personal experience wit travelling through Mexico

Since you are going by land, I'd suggest stopping off in San Luis Potosi and Quereraro on the way down to Mexico City or Veracruz. Nice towns (both of them) and very scenic for large cities. Once you get to the state of Quintana Roo, I'd suggest seeing many of the pyramids south of Merida, then the city of Merida itself, and then visiting Chichen Itza on your way across the peninsula to Cancun.

Once in Cancun, visit not only the tourist areas, but also Isla Mujeres, the downtown area of Cancun, the Mexican Riviera section south of town, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and also take a ferry across to visit Cozumel. All of these are worth the trip.

Enjoy

Thanks for the reply calCruzer, I was gettin worried that people didnt travel Mexico when I got no replies I will get the map out and mark these places

Thanks Oli

Oli,
I did find this on driving in Mexico. I would send Mike a message and get his input. goes over the documents needed when crossing the border.

After reading the US State Dept warning, I would advise you to really give this trip some more thought. It only takes one guy with an automatic weapon to ruin your Mexican adventure. All trips have a risk/reward aspect. It is your decision if the reward outweighs the risk. Good luck.

Mexico is one of the most accepted traveler countries on earth. Much of the traveler business is centered on the seashore resorts as well as the altiplano in the middle part of the kingdom Visiting the northern center permits visitors to obtain off the compressed pathway a bit.

Hello! I'm embarking on a very similar trip! Leaving my home in Albuquerque, visiting friends in San Diego and then heading south. I'm still trying to decide if I want to go down baja first and then ferry to to the mainland or just stay on the west coast of Mexico. I'm leaning toward the former. Though I won't be heading anywhere near the yucatan I wouldn't mind hooking up at some point. I'm travelling with my pooch in a '70 VW van and am pointed at Central America.

Thanks all
