No superannuation that I remember, but if you work less than a full year (and are in New Zealand for more than 183 days in a given 12 month period, which makes you a "tax resident"), it definitely pays to ask tax back, yes, as the amount of tax which will be withheld at your job is calculated based on the assumption of you working for a full year. (You'll probably have to fill in form IR3.)
Note that the New Zealand tax year runs until March 31, but you can ask tax back before that if you'll leave the country (by filling in form IR50 alongside IR3).
