What train is this? Is this a nighttrain? Is reservation mandatory? Do you just need the tickets or do you need a reservation too?
I suggest you simply buy the tickets as soon as you are in Slovenia. You should be able to do this at every train station. If you do this a few days in advance even reservation for the night train shouldn't be a problem.
If you've already tried DB BAHN.... , and THAT won't work (and I would be DAMNED SURPRISED) then go down the day before and buy a ticket. This ain't Latin America, my friend. Trains run on time here. And are ubiquitous. You'll be fine fine, more than fine. And stop sweating it. This is the land of trains.
And Slovenia is my choice for the most underrated place in Europe.
