Everest walk to Base Camp on a shoe string budget unaided.

Hi hope you can all help

You can walk I guess, but it would add a huge amount of time onto your trip. Most people wanting to not take the plane, take the bus from Kathmandu.

Best time I believe is around Oct to Nov or March to April. These being the high season expect a lot of foot traffic on route and sometimes beds in the guest houses are hard to come by, but they will never turn anyone away.

Tourist visa and you'll need a park permit that you can get in Kathmandu

scrambling? its a pretty well worn path to base camp. LP Nepal would probably be the only guide you'd need and it has maps.

I think you can get away with about $15-20 a day from what I remember. Water you take purifying filter or tablets and take water from taps.

If you have skype, I think you might be able to call this guy and see if he has email yet. He is an English guy who has climbed Everest and married a Nepali and now lives in Kathmandu and has a mountaineering shop there. He makes really great gear, that you can buy or rent. I still have my sleeping bag from him and its the best one ive ever had. He is a great source for information and will steer you in the right direction without trying to sell you things you dont need.
His name is Andy, his son is Tashi who is also very knowledgeable the shop name is Alpine Expedition Service and the number is 4 265120
