Road Trip of Western Europe

We are a group of 4 people planning on a trip to western Europe covering Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. We want to do a road trip , stopping at BnB's and would like to cover it in about 10 days or so........
So please let me know the best possible route to start with and the place to see and stay at.
Thanx

Six countries in ten days? What do you realistically expect to see, other than highways? You're going to get the "If today is Tuesday, then this must be Paris" effect, snapping the kodak moment photo before rushing on to the next checklist item.

I really wouldn't even begin to consider this trip. Europe is densely packed with things worth seeing; steeped in history, with major cultural highlights around every corner. Any European capital could keep you occupied for 4-5 days without any effort, and this'd go up to a week for the larger ones. To get the feel for the rest of even a small country would take another week (2-3 weeks for France, Germany or Italy), as you explore the different landscapes the country has to offer as well as some smaller cities.
With ten days, I'd pick two countries max and actually see something of them besides what you can find on the cover of guidebooks. It still won't be in depth, but you might at least retain some memory of it afterward. Then come back for the next two countries the year after; Europe isn't going anywhere.

I'm with Sander. 2 countries absolute max. You could happily spend a 10-day road trip in one province of France or Italy.

Thanx Sander......

Actually, I also thought about it after posted this thread.... but I wanna know, that we are First time travellers and we were not plannin to visit more than two cities in those countries. like in France, only paris was on the list, Belgium only brussels, like that.......... we seriously dont have any idea.

We were planning to come to Amsterdam - Brussels - luxembourg/ frankfurt - Stuttgart - Switzerland ( 3 days minimum ) - Venice - Paris

Please let me know if we have 10-12 days to spend in europe..... What n where should we go and do.... we realy want to take a road trip and that tooo Budget.......

Thanx once again

Thanx Magykal................. I have put up some of my views on the previous thread.......... please give your inputs... they will be most appreciated.

Thanx again

If I was doing this trip I would plan: Amsterdam 3 days, Brussels 1-2 days, Cologne and the Rhine Valley 2 days (there is nothing really interesting in Frankfurt, believe me), Heidelberg 1 day, Switzerland 4 days, Venice 3 days, Paris 5 days. In addition I would also have 3 days of nothing but driving time and 1-2 days for arrival and departure by plane.

That's 21 days.

With ten days I would do the following: Fly into Paris and out of Rome or vice versa. Visit Paris for 3 days, take a budget flight to Venice, then visit Venice (2 days), Florence (3) and Rome (3). Take the train from Venice to Florence to Rome. Rent a car in Florence for a day to drive around Tuscany.

This is IMO the most sensible option to get a good first taste of Europe in general and France and Italy in particular.

The big problem with a road trip is renting the car - most rental companies will require you to return the car to the country where you first rented it. If you find a company that allows you to drop off the car elsewhere you'll end up paying a lot of money in international drop-off fees.

That sounds about right to me, even though Venice is a must see before you die place it can be done in a day and a half, subsequently Florence in 2 leavings us with ...class any answers...one and a half extra days either in Rome or Paris or in some hotel ordering room service.

The original trip is way too much and if you are four fiends at the start of the trip it might be difficult to maintain that friendship over those 12 days.....

If Belgium is a must, skip Brussels and do a smaller town like Gent, I´m in love with that city and have only spent around 23 hours there in my life

Yeah id agree max 2 days in Venice!!! Just get your walking shoes on
