Just a little update for those of you planning on going to Bulgaria this year.
Budget airline 'Wizzair' has pulled out of its routes.... Sofia-Varna and Sofia-Burgas for 2011.
Air.Bg have put on extra daily flights and lowered their fares, so a little compensation - but they're still dearer than Wizzair's fares were.
Budget airline Easyjet has extended it's flights to Sofia from Manchester and Gatwick.
That's it for now.
Seems like some good info to update / add to the travel guide.
Thanks Flying Bob - i am indeed going to Sofia for the Bulgaria v Wales football match this coming October.
As yet, i've found nothing cheaper than 35 quid Easyjet from Gatwick.
Can i assume that booking early will be my best bet, and not to wait for fare sales?
Huw
I'm glad that its been moved - this post. I thought afterwards.... Mmmm - Europe would have been the more practical room to post it. I don't have the ability to move a post, so thanx to whoever did.
I dont honestly think that any airline can match Easyjets prices to BG - but you never know. Occasionally, Skyscanner throws up a beauty though.
Im on Ryanairs query books and asked them if theyre likely to expand on Stansted-Plovdiv. The reply was very positive. Basically, if that route continues to be as successful as its been since starting a couple of months or so ago, the flights are nearly always full - then they may look into going to either Burgas or Varna.
I guess.... Watch the space.
