Me and a friend are going travelling around the world next February and we wanted to know how easy it is to get work in America, is there any recruitment agencies that we can use or anything? We have previous experience in Shops and Cafes. America is the last stop on our trip so we would be low on money and therefore would need work to fund it. Can anyone who has travelled to America and worked help us?
As long as you have work permits, its easy to get a job in US. Even in small towns, you can always find one. Where in the States are you planning on staying?
I would agree with lorraine.anico the US is easy to get a job, especially in shops and cafes. I went through Memphis and Nashville and I had no problems (i think it was my British Accent....what, what, what).

I don't know where lorraine and Ashley are coming from, but for most people, getting a work visa for the US is effectively impossible (US immigration seems to be actively hostile to the idea), and you seriously don't want to work there illegally. (There is an (exchange?) program for UK students only which supposedly allows them to do some work, but I've never come across anyone here who made use of that.)
As for New Zealand: easiest is to get a (which also exists for Canada and Australia), which allows you to stay in the country for up to a year and work (up to two years even for UK citizens, though with extra paperwork). Do note that these things are "once in a lifetime", so be sure to make full use of it.

I am not sure if there are J1 programs available in UK. I came in the US with a J1 visa. It is an internship program that allows you to work for a maximum of 12 months. If you want to be a temporary worker, there's also H2b visa for six months. You can renew it up to 6 times. The only problem with h2B is that you need to look for a company who will sponsor you in processing your papers. check mamavisa.com. It's an agency that hires h2b workers.
Trying to get work in most countries without permission you could find yourself in a whole lot of bother.
My friend traveled to the States with her husband who had a job there but she couldn't get a work permit and they lived there 2 years.
In Oz you need a working Visa and it's not something you can get in a week you need to plan in advance for anything like this.

Actually, if you get a Working Holiday Visa (available until age 30, inclusive) for Australia (or New Zealand), 99% of the time it's a matter of a few hours, a week at most.

I agree I actually got my Oz working visa back within minutes of applying! And my New Zealand working visa didn't take much longer.
