Hair dryers on carry on luggage?

Hey guys not exactly sure where to put this thread. I hope it's fine here. Anyways, my girlfriend is wondering if you are allowed to bring a hair dryer on a plane in your carry on luggage? she is only traveling with her backpack...no checked luggage and she wants to travel with her hair dryer. Has anyone traveled recently with a hair dryer in their carry on luggage? would appreciate feedback as always. Merci beaucoup.

Hi,

Not sure specifically re a hairdryer, but have recently traveled with another electrical item (a travel iron) in my handluggage. This was regarded with some suspicion in transit at Madrid (inbound only, no questions on the way out) but after they checked it I was allowed to keep it in my handluggage.

Most airlines have a list of what you can and can't take with you on the flight, so it may be worth checking the website for your airline. Or you could check the website of your departure airport. I'm flying with Lufthansa in a week and their website says that re electrical items in handluggage, the rules of the departure airport applies.

I know this might be too late for you now, but I travel with my hair straightners in my hand luggage everytime I fly - don't want them to get broken in my suitcase, and I have never come across a problem at all.

You shouldnt have any problem with a hair dryer in hand luggage. If you've any doubt - contact your travel agent, the airline or the airport security.
I know contacting airlines nowadays is a tough one, but if you go on to the website of the airport you're tavelling from and find the 'Security' link, they will have all the info you need.

if the hair dryer is small and compact then i think it will not be a problem especially that she is only traveling light.
