i am looking at taking a dslr camera for my travels. from my time of researching on whether this is worth doing or not, i have decided so based on what i want to achieve out of my pictures.

I've bundled cameras inside bags just wrapped in a towel (works well) and I keep used memory on me at ALL times no matter what. If it's properly insured then they can share the bulk of the worry. Good luck.
I find that keeping it out of site when not using it is a good idea, meaning put your camera bag inside your backpack while its in your room. Keep your used memory cards seperate from your camera bag.
You will use your Camera bag as a day bag anyway, so it will be with you 95% of the time anyway.
I am planning a 6mth trip to India this year and am taking this
It will have my DSLR, Laptop computer and extras. My problem is carrying that and a backpack.
