I'm planning to visit Lima for 4 days, and Bogota for 3 days... Any suggestion(s)?? ~first week of December~
The mountains in Bogota are great. Either take the tram, which is fun, or do what some do and make it an exercise to get up there. Some people jog up it every day!
Lots of good live music in Bogota. Check it out! Look at the lampposts and billboards for the new listings.
Bring a jacket....It ain't warm there.

Your trip sounds amazing, I'm sure youare going to enjoy it very much. Cartagena is great, there are lots of things to see, specially the castles and beautiful old streets. If you go, make sure to go to Baru or Playa blanca, beaches out side the coast that are really worth going to. You can take a boat and they'll take you there in the morning and pick you up in the afternoon. Also make sure to stay inside the "Casco Antiguo", that is the old city, but be careful with vendors since they'll charge you triple as soon as they notice you are not a local.
Any way there are tons of palces to go while being in Colombia! and they are all sooooo different!! You have Santa Marta, a beautiful coast line where you can go to Tairona Park with beautiful beaches, hammocks to rent for the night, food, water and surf, besides wonderful views and sunsets.
You can also go to villa de Leiva. Tiny beautiful colonial village known by the gorgeus houses and streets, the desert and the kites where fossils can be found everywhere.
The Guajira Desert, where the most beautiful sunsets ever can be found. The people are just wonderful and the terrein still not too damage by humans. Natives can be found on the way and it is also called a land of adventure!
The Amazones. (don't think there is actually a need for explanation, LOL).
Now, I know you don't have a lot of time so, if I had to choose, I would go to Tairona Park (the one with the hammocks). It is truthly beautiful and that way you can take a look at Rodadero, the capital of Santa Marta and also you can see the Nevado de Santamarta (a huge mountain with snow at the top that you can see while lying on the beach).
If you are going to Bogota try to go also to the Minas de Sal. Is a one day trip (so you would leave in the morning and be back by dinner) and they are salt caves. Try to google it for images!

There are loads of great museums in Bogota, here are a couple more places to see whilst you're there:
Casa de la moneda
La Candelaria (Bogota's colonial centre)
La Quinta de Bolivar (Colombia's ex president and liberation hero's residence and museum in Bogota, nr the Candelaria)
Donacion Botero - Biblioteca Luis Angel Naranjo (Fernando Botero is widely regarded as Colombia's most famous artist, and paints all things fat, excellent exhibition)
Zipaquira (on of the world's largest subterranean cathedral, with the world's largest cross, made entirely out of salt, about an hours bus ride from Bog.)
Guatavita Lake (origin of the legend of El Dorado - about an hour from Bogota by bus)
Bogota Beer Company - if you fancy a traditional pint of decent beers from around the world
If you're thinking about staying in Colombia a while longer instead of Lima then the Carribean coast is a must. Cartagena has architectural beauty from the colonial period but if it's natural beauty you're after then definitely Santa Marta. Try Taganga and it's surrounding beaches and Parque Tayrona which has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A 12km day trek is well worth doing, or you can rent a hammock. Don't leave without trying the seafood!!

All good suggestions...>But skip any museum of Gold....Seriously, they suck.
Also, in Cartagena, don't waste your money on ANY museum there. All poorly appointed, and you'll be in and out in ten minutes. Two that I can think of that are egregiously bad.....The Museum of Inquistion in Parque Bolivar and the Cistern Museum hidden under Los Muralles by the former stone pier. I'm tellling you they're bad...and when you don't heed my warning, come back and tell me I'm right.
I lived in Carta for a year. I think you should plan to only spend a week there, because there is not much to it other than the absolutely beautiful walled city and the fort nearby. The beaches are ugly and you'll be hounded non stop by Vendedores. The city is gross outside the walls, and there is much more to see elsewhere. If you stop in Baranquilla, whihc is a nice enough town, note that the only real thing I noticed was the monument to Shakira...it's her hometown.
