hey im a 27yr old male from south west, uk. i have done some solo travelling before, but that was across america and canada, also did 6 weeks in thailand alone too. although i love solo travel i do find it alot easier with others, i am open to travelling with both males and female, of various age groups, just love meeting new people who enjoy the same kind of stuff as me.

Hi all i'm also from the SW, travelling by myself to Oz in September, hopefully until about May-time next year, then go to Thailand for a bit. Mikey - how did you find Thailand when you went? I'm a bit concerned at the moment given the violence at the moment (Really don't fancy landing in the middle of a war).
It's reassuring to know there are others who are travelling solo as I thought the majority of people went in groups! I def wouldn't have considered it when I was younger but at 27 I feel slightly more confident about going on my own. I plan on working my way around as much of the country as I can, starting in Sydney - does anyone know what the best method of getting around would be as i've heard about a coach pass you can buy that you can use across Oz for up to 12 months? I imagine flights would be more expensive.

the 1st time i went thailand there was a state of emergency in bangkok, but i really didnt see anything as i was away from that district, i would hope it would all be cleared up by then anyway, i wasnt in bangkok long, but i have a friend out there now who just chose to go down to the south instead to be safe.
thai people seemed very friendly to me as a tourist though, also seemed to appreciate my custom etc and had many people over there help me out and go out of their way for me, so i wouldnt hesitate to go back again! by the time your finished in oz im sure it should be cool there anyway.
and yeah your at a good age to do it alone, u will soon meet alot of people along the way, its surprising how many u meet who are doing it alone too, so good to hang out and go along some of the way together.
Mickey I'm doing a similar trip and heading to SE Asia for 3 months early September. Travelling there for 3 months before flying out of Singapore to Sydney for Christmas and New Year. Have you guys tried to book somewhere in Sydney already? Any ideas where is best to stay? I knew it would be busy but didn't think I'd need to book this early.
hey phil i'd recommend asking in the aus section on the site, dont know if you use it already but hostelworld.com is usually pretty handy to use as well, but yeah ive heard you have to book sydney well in advance. either way sounds like u will have an awesome time!
