I'm planning my parents' trip to Hawaii for the end of February through the first week of March. They have their hearts set on attending a luau. Can anyone recommend a luau on Oahu that is less cheesy than most and has good food?
Have you considered Polynesian Cultural Center and their luau? Their new "Ha" show is supposed to be pretty spectacular. I have been there a number of times, but havn't seen "Ha" yet. Check out their website:

Some very nice videos
Here's another vote for the Polynesian Cultural Center. The folks will love it.
There are 2 kinds of luaus - the commercial, tourist type where you usually sit at tables and eat terrible food, and the real thing right on the beach where you sit on the sand/lawn with a slab of pork and a Primo in hand. The real thing can be hard to find, and is normally done in good weather (not usually in winter) and on a weekend by church or civic groups. Polynesian CC will have the commercial type, but not nearly as bad as those in Waikiki.
Have you looked into whether or not the hotel your parents are staying at have a Luau? Many of the major resorts have luaus on site. That might be a convenient option.
Thanks for the suggestions. I think we'll go with the Polynesian Cultural Center.
I think that's a great choice. Yeah, sure it's commercial! And the food may not be what you would expect in a five star restaurant, but the show is spectacular and the PCC is just an interesting place in general.
