Camping Canada E to W this July

bluezlgnd has indicated that this thread is about Canada

4 suggestions, for July, check the web for all:
Montréal - Québec
Toronto - Ontario
Edmonton- Alberta
Calgary- Alberta

I'm sure there are others, but with only a week in July I'd pick one of these.

Montréal:
International Jazz/Blues/whatever & Just-For-Laughs Comedy festivals - both in July (check the web); there's camping, probably off the Island, but I haven't been camping in years; you'll be able to use some of that high school French - most people are bilingual. East of Montréal there's a western-style festival in a town called St-Tite (it's true I tell ya, that's what the place is called); I've never been, but it's been going on for a few decades

Toronto:
I don't remember the dates, but there's Caribana, a Caribbean street festival - I think it lasts for a weekend, & is sometime in the summer; again I haven't been in years; camping in the suburbs

Edmonton & Calgary both have separate week-long events; formerly known as Klondyke days in Edmonton & the Stampede in Calgary; I think both are in July at different times; camping in the suburbs

Good luck & have a nice trip.

PS: I was born near Montréal & have lived in Toronto & Edmonton & now living in Surrey, BC; there is a music festival in Merritt BC & a Jazz festival in Vancouver but I don't know the dates - again, check the web

Were you planning on driving through Canada? Cause that's a rough week! I would maybe recommend the Great Bear Rainforest. Bella Coola or Prince Rupert are gorgeous. You can make a nice loop starting on Vancouver Island, ferry to Prince Rupert or Bella Coola, then to Jasper, Banff, and either back to the USA or Vancouver. Your not that far from Calgary/Edmonton this way either.

A big surprise is in store for you if your plans are to drive across canada in a week.
Traveling non stop in your car will take up 2 and a half of those days from Quebec city to Vancouver,,dont bother bringing a tent as you wont have time to put it up.

Yeah I think you better narrow down your areas a bit before anyone can really answer this question. Are you flying at all? Or driving?

If you are starting in the east then I assume that's where you are from or are landing. Ontario probably has some beautiful spots for camping and hiking - do some research. That's about as far as you might make it if you actually want to have time to enjoy the scenery.

Thanks all for the replies. After getting all of your advice and checking out the distance I have to agree... I think we will stick to just one area for the camping. It looks like the NE section is very pretty in July.

You would really enjoy a trip to Canada's Maritime provinces Lots of camping, biking, hiking trails and if you are into seafood it dont get no better

Save the west coast for your next trip.
