Rome Tips

Thanks for the good tips! I'll be in Rome later this year so I will make sure to be extra vigilant about these things

I never took a taxi. The buses and subway were great and much cheaper. Helped that the hostel I stayed at, The Beehive, was a couple blocks from the train station where all the buses and subway stop.

Rome has a lot to offer the discerning visitor, whether you are looking for archaeological sites, great shopping boutiques, fantastic dining, or a romantic journey with your significant other. There are also some amazing Rome cheap hotels to choose from, although narrowing down your choices might prove to be difficult. When planning your trip to the "eternal city", what should you be looking for in Rome hotels?

Throughout Italy, the high season is generally from the first of April to October and again for the two weeks around Christmas and new year's Eve.
August is the traditional vacation month for most in Rome, while Venetians vacations, for example, are in the damp months of January and February: Rome is almost empty during the month of August.

Studies and researches have made easier to find Rome hotels. Moreover, the guides also help you to find the location where the superior Rome hotels are situated. Such hotels are mostly houses in the heart of the city and within the walking distance of shopping venues like malls, big shops etc. Also the attractive tourist destinations of Rome are located not very far from the motels. Tourists who are along with their family members can pick those hotel rooms which offer discount travel packages. However, it is obvious that if you are on a trip then huge expenses will be done but still if you wish to save your hard earn money then there are lots of ways to follow during your trip.

Hi

  1. Roman Eating Habits: Here, as in many European capitals, the evening meal is a multi-course, slowly enjoyed affair that begins as late as 9 p.m. If this does not appeal to you, it's possible to arrive as early as 7 p.m. and enjoy no-wait service in a nearly empty restaurant. One more thing to consider when ordering: portions here tend to be very, very large. I found pizza here (and throughout Italy) to be an inexpensive meal but frankly a bit disappointing in terms of quality.

  1. More About Convent Stays: Some non-Roman Catholics shy away from this economical alternative to the hotels, but they should make themselves comfortable. The sisters do not require you to be a church member. You will also find many of the sisters do not speak English, but that simply adds to the experience of being in Roma, right?

  1. Don't Focus Solely on the Sistene Chapel: Many travelers anticipate this incredible sight and then are hurried through it in a crowd of pushing, boisterous visitors. Breathtaking as it is, there are other ceilings, tapestries, paintings and art objects that are worth your attention, too.

  1. Keep Close Watch on Your Valuables: This is standard advice anywhere, but Roman tourist sites tend to be very crowded and it's easier here to lose track of your valuables. There are criminals out there who are well aware of this and will take advantage.

Thanks

You guys are so great! Thank you for this advice! I've been to Rome, but it will be good to know all of these things for the future!
