Hey there;
Best beaches in LA are:
(1) Huntington Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach nearby
(2) Newport Beach
both of these are on the south side of Los Angeles and close to Disneyland
(3) Santa Monica and Will Rogers State Beach
(4) Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach
both of these are on the west side and close to Hollywood and Universal Studios
(5) Malibu and Zuma Beach
west side, but far out of town
All of these five are good
(6) Venice Beach--more of a street event than a beach--but the beach is okay
(7) Seal Beach
(8) east side of Long Beach
Poor or tiny beaches, or beaches that aren't really a beach area or are difficult to get to:
Palos Verdes, west portion of Long Beach, San Pedro, Terminal Island, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel
Enjoy
As a local, I'd like to amplify Calcruzer's always excellent advice. From LAX head south on Interstate 405 to these areas:
Huntington Beach is the best large beach for visitors. Both local surfers and visitors have plenty of room. There is also a pier to walk out over the water, and a restaurant (Ruby's) that makes a nice casual dinner at sunset. Downtown HB has numerous services just a short walk across Pacific Coast Highway (SR 1).
If you prefer a quieter beach experience, nearby Seal Beach is always a good option. A protected cove, the waves are smaller but there is a pier, although it's smaller than HB. There are two good hotels in this area: the better location is the Pacific Inn, 600 Marina Drive. 2nd choice would be the Hampton Inn and Suites, which is more inland away from the water.
Have fun.
Sorry for late response its been a while but I apriciate your kind asistance. I think finally I will stay in downtown then rent a car and then visit all the beaches you mentioned one by one
