Where to stay in Thailand..

Hey!

You can visit this website http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok.html for a list of good and affordable hotels in Bangkok. it can range from 19 dollars to 100 dollars. well, if you will be traveling the country a lot, I'd say you better set up a bank account with a bank that has a branch in Thailand so in case you would run out of money.

A good place to check rooms rates is right here on TP. Left panel, click on 'accommodation'. Select 'budget accom'. select 'Thailand', select 'Bangkok'. Many GHs under 500 baht. Take a look at Udee BKK or Cosy BKK Place for example.

I spend roughly$30/day total. Figure $1K for the month.

In bang kok just turn up on Kho san road and you'll find somewhere day or night, as for kho pang yang - coral bungalows is good, pricey though! But if your intending to go for full moon, its awesome cos it hold soooooo many events! I went to thailand for a month and spent £900 and i didn't feel as if i were living on a buget at all, i bought so much stuff, most of which i didn't need to!

Couple good there. And, wherever you choose to stay, please let me know how you like(d) it
Also, I want to try MiniR in Ratchada too

Hey!

Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for accommodation in Bagkok and also for Ko Phangan? Also how much money do you need roughly for a month in Thailand?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!

When Ko Phangan is mentioned that is more often by someone who is very young. If you are in this young category then perhaps a hotel or hostel in the Khao San Road area will do for you in Bangkok.

If you are slightly more mature then perhaps a hotel in the Sukhumvit Road or Siam area of Bangkok will do so you can also use the Skytrain rapid transit service. The Skytrain is an overhead rail service that can take you to many popular tourist areas of Bangkok including Patpong night market, MBK, Chatuchak, Ekamai bus station and a connection for the subway at Asok.

Here is a few more links on hotels and hostels, you decide if you can afford them or even more costly places.

Not everyone spends money the same way. You may be from a wealthy family and used to staying in expensive hotels and eating at expensive places, or you may be a thrift traveler where you have to conserve every cent to make ends meet.

You ought to start with a budget and figure out how much you can afford and then plan your holiday around that budget.

If you want a rough estimate of how much you need then just figure out how much you would pay for a holiday in your country and bring the same amount of money. Keep in mind that you can also use ATM's and cash travelers checks so you lessen the real cash you take with you personally. If you intend to use an ATM for cash (debit card or credit card) you have to notify your bank that you will be overseas or the withdrawal may be suspected of being fraudulent. For travelers checks bring only the largest denominations to cut down on fees to cash them. The fee to cash a TC is 33 baht and the surcharge fee to use an ATM is 150 baht so take out the maximum.

If you need more hotel recommendations mention how much per night you want to pay for your hotel and you will get a few recommendations that match your budget. Wait until you get to Thailand to change your money over so you get the best rate. Bank money changers are available at the airport 24 hours a day.

Good luck.
