best way to split up europe into multiple trips

My husband and I are traveling to europe this september for 19 days. We are traveling alone and backpacking. We want to sort of leave our itinerary open but, need somewhat of an idea of where we are going. We want to see all of europe in multiple trips. So basically we need ideas on the most logical way to split up europe into multiple trips. We would like to see london, amsterdam, paris, and munich(for oktoberfest)for this trip so far. But that is open for suggestions as well.

You could do something like this:

  • fly to London - train to
  • Belgium (Brussels / Antwerp / Ghent / Bruges) - train to
  • Amsterdam / Utrecht - night train to
  • Copenhagen - train to
  • Berlin - train to
  • Munich - train to
  • Paris - train back to
  • London

This is a fairly tight schedule for just 19 days, but it might work.

All Western Europe? Not considered giving them a little peep at the East?
