hi all
I paid around US$80 in 2006 so I wouldn't have thought tickets would be much more than that. I booked only a couple of days before - sometimes it's good to wait until you get there in case your plans change.
just look on skycaner/ air asia
flights are restricted because the cambodian govenment dont want people to just go to angkor then leave the county
you can travel over land from bangkok in a day and 6 ish hours from PP
It is expensive BKK-REP, but if you travel quite a bit in Cambodia-Laos-Thailand you can save a few $$$ by using Bangkok Air's Pass - highly restricted. Vietnam is not included, and it covers most flights on Bangkok Air and Air Lao. (see the Bangkok Air website)
Aaron,
You have 3 real options. Fly into Phnom Penh. That makes sense if you want to sightsee a few days in PP. Or if you want to get down to the beach in Sihanoukville. Then up to Siem Reap. After Angkor, one long day back to BKK. With the road paved all the way, it is not the ordeal it was a few years ago. Or go overland: BKK-SR. Down to PP, fly back to BKK on Air Asia. Or just pay the airfare quoted between BKK-REP.
Aaron, you are young and fit. I would fly into PP and work my way back to BKK overland. You will have great stories to tell everyone once home! Good luck with your planning.
