Diving in Koh Tao

Four-4-2 has indicated that this thread is about Ko Tao

It was 2008 when I dove at Ko Tao, so take that into account as things probably change. I did my basic with one of the many cattle style outfits on Ko Tao. It was cheap and got me the basics. I then came across these guys and did my advanced with them. Because competition is so fierce they pretty much matched the cheap guys, but what I got was personal one on one tuition from some top guys that really know what they are doing. At that time they were the only ones with a really fast speed boat. That means they can get you out onto some of the best dive sites, which the others can't because their boats are too slow to make it in a day. Our night dive was nothing short of spectacular. It was me and two highly experienced diver masters. Same with the rest of the course.

They are pretty much across the street from Island Dive Club, so make sure you check them out.

I'd dive with Seashell Divers. Their resort sucks, but the dive school there is well run and has nice small class sizes. Having worked in the industry for many years I was very impressed with them.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have any experience with Ban Tai (sp)? It shall be me and a friend diving and so we don't want to small a group (6-8 ppl) preferably as we would also like to meet others whilst diving.

Thanks again for your help! :D

Hi,

If you haven't already booked it up, i would recommend crystal dive resort. I've literally finished two days ago and stayed on to do my Advanced open water i loved it so much. There 200 yards away from the ferry port and their facilities are just as good as anyone around, plus they give you discount on places whilst you stay with them. The group are no larger than 6 and it's like a big family whilst your there!

Hey I've recently come away from Koh Tao albeit reluctantly...it's a fantastic place. I wentwith scuba junction and they were good with 4 night discount garden bungalow of 400bht. Are you talking bout Bans? If so they are based in Saire beach and are a big unit which is very popular with good accommodation and a lovely restaurant. We stayed longer because it was so nice....if you want to know more please ask.
