3 days Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An

Hello fellow travellers!
Thank you so far for all your advice! We are well on our travel through Vietnam, but are wondering what you guys think we should do with three days in Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An, concidering activities both in the cities and the nearby places?
We are flying to Da Nang, so that will be our starting point.

I think you will find Hoi An to be the perfect place. The best scenery with a beautiful town and a fantastic beach. The food, shopping and accommodation are not too shabby either. While Hoi An is a rather small town, Danang and Hue are good size cities. You should plan on seeing all of them, but I would say that 3 days for Hoi An, 1/2 day for Danang, and 1 1/2 days for Hue would be about right for me. Most folks like to travel this stretch of coastline by car so you can stop at places like the DMZ, Marble Mt., and Hai Van Pass. Danang is the bigger and cheaper airport in the area, and trains stop at both Danang and Hue. Hoi An and Hue are quite famous for having some of Vietnam's best food. One thing that is so nice about Hoi An are the craft shops where you can see artisans at work. Yes, Hoi An is very touristy, but it's also the place most Westerners want to return to. I pay $15. for a very nice basic room in Hoi An (Nhi Trung Hotel) - if you want a pool that will be a few dollars more. Another nice thing about Hoi An is that it's fairly compact - you can walk most everywhere, and bikes can be rented to get to the rather isolated Cua Dai Beach.

I would urge all travelers to email Danangkids* for their free student guide tours of Hoi An/Danang - students in VN do this for English practice, and the traveler pays taxi and lunch bills. Give them 3 or 4 weeks lead time.
