Everest Base Camp

KIER has indicated that this thread is about Nepal

Hello Kier,

Good to know that you are travelling to EBC( Everest Base Camp).

The best season for traveling to Nepal is regarded as October-November. The climatic condition whole over the Nepal is very good and there are many festivals happening in Nepal at that time. Normally trek to EBC is 14/15 days. Three weeks in Nepal its possible to book when you arrive here but also I will recommend you to book earlier because its the main tourist season. The best town for booking is Kathmandu because there are many Trekking agencies here.

Dullar

Namaste Kier,
welcome to Everest base camp!

Nepal is one of the best destination around the world. You already know that Mt Everest (8848m) is world highest mountain. it is very nice place to visit .Everest base camp is one of the popular trekking destination in Nepal. The best view of Everest is Kalapather (5550m). Your destination is Kalapather rather you also may visit EBC to see khumbu icefall.

Today is world of internet, you should book your trip an advance because it is always good for you. There are so many tour operator in Kathmandu, you select one of the best and then book an advance.

Harka

Thanks for the advice. One more question... If i were to book it in advance would there be much price difference between that and booking it when I get to Kathmandu..
Thanks
Kier

Hello Kier,
There may be variation in prices and its better if you inquire with few agencies and compare the facilities and services.

Hi Kier,
Congrats! If I understand correctly, you decided to trek to the southern Everest Base Camp on the Nepalese side.
You probably are aware that there is also the northern EBC in Tibet :-). I was there (and on the Nepalese side, but unfortunately not to S-EBC) two years ago.

May be it will help to prepare your trip by reading my impressions from these life-time journeys especially as I'm attaching tons of pictures.
Wish you all the best.

Tom

You can start any of these two articles (from both sides of Himalayas):
a) Journey through the Tibetan Plateau from Lhasa to Kathmandu overland with detour to Mt. Everest Base Camp

-snip-

b) Nepalese side will be either Annapurna (the most famous trekking area in Nepal) . You can also check on Chitwan and Pokhara pages.
