SPAM notification for moderators

Hi,
It has been discussed before a little, but I wondered if it could be possible to install a SPAM notification for moderators easily and fast? I noticed that it takes either a lot of time for spam to be removed, I noticed it myself late (or maybe miss a few) and probably some go unnoticed at all, after being reported.
Just curious, but guess it can't hurt asking
Cheers
Mike

Maybe for moderators a link to /forum_spam.cfm could be included at the top of the sidebar while in one of the forums you moderate? "x spam reports to look at"? Should mean moderators won't forget to look in there anymore...

Yeah, a link somewhere would be useful - I tend to enter the site using Favourites/Bookmarks which goes straight to the spam check page, otherwise I would forget the url of that page.

Just to clarify, are you thinking an on-site notification, or rather an email sent to you whenever a thread is reported?

An email being sent out to mods would really kill things fast I'd think.

I'd strongly prefer not to go the email route. When I'm online, I'll check here regularly anyway; when I'm not, the email wouldn't do any good. And with two moderators to most forums, at least one of them would always get a useless email, whereas without the email, they wouldn't be bothered at all.

Yeah, that would be a potential problem - everyone falling over themselves to delete the thread. Hmm, maybe the moderators can choose whether to be emailed? Or maybe the email only goes out a little later after there's been a chance to remove it?

What do you guys think about having a Moderator "box" located after the "Jump to <forum>" and use it to display the list of flagged posts?

That could be useful in theory, although as Sander pointed out, if we're online then we will check TP anyway so we wouldn't need the email.

That could be good.

Just to clarify one thing Sander mentioned, there is a page where moderators can see current spam in the forums, and that is located at travellerspoint.com/forum_spam.cfm. It's hidden rather well...

I quite like the idea of having that box on the forums too though!

Was thinking of PM's instead. I sometimes don't check email everyday and TP I d of course

Didn't know about the option of checking it already by the way. Must be well hidden indeed

PS: Have been checking it now for 4 minutes I see, but did not see it. You mean I have to type the url myself or is there really a link somewhere Or is that what you mean with 'box'.
