Travelling to Melbourne solo

Hey,

Hey there Sam,

I should be arriving in Sydney March 6th and be there for a couple days then i would be heading to Melbourne for a few days before heading up the coast to find work. I'm 28 from Vancouver Canada. Any thoughts of what you wanted to do/ see?

Hi!,

I am going to be in Melburne from 15th February and plan on staying for quite a few months whilst I find some work like you Sam. If any of you are happy to meet up for a few drinks when you arrive give us a shout!.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply.

I want to see most of the Victoria area and obviously great ocean road. I'm travelling on a working holiday visa so my plan is maybe 6 months in Melbourne then go somewhere else after just not sure where yet.

Hi Donna, have you booked any hostels yet iv seen a few I like the look of and it seems st kilda is the place to be.

We should all meet up for drinks when were there, are you both travelling on your own?

I just returned from spending 3 months in Australia. I highly recommend Space in Melbourne. It's a little bit more expensive than other hostels but so worth it. It was clean and in a great location. There was a wide variety of people staying there, so it wasn't just a party hostel which I liked, cause like u I'm a little older than the average hostel guests. wThere's a bar downstairs that has some great specials. If you have any other questions let me know.

Hey

I am also 27 and travelling alone from the UK, arriving in Melbourne on the 23rd Feb - very excited but also nervous!

I have a working holiday visa and will be looking for work in Melbourne but also want to travel as much of the area as possible - have booked a place in St Kilda for the first few nights to get a feel for the place

If anyone is up for it I would like to meet up?

Kate

Hey Kate,

Sounds like you and I are doing exactly the same thing lol, would definately be up for meeting up :-) im getting really nervous now, keep thinking crap have I done the right thing but I'm sure we will all have a ball!

Which hostel are you staying in? Are you on Facebook

Thanks

Sam

Great - yes it does sound like we are! I have the exact same feeling but i am sure it will be a great thing whatever happens!

I have booked Habitat HQ for 4 nights at the moment - want similar to what you put, somewhere to meet peope and have a good time but not a 18 year old party house as dont think I can quite pull that off still!

I am on facebook - hopefully this link will work: http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=204504516

Kate

That's good, iv been looking at the nunnery hostel but haven't booked anything yet just doing some research but the habitat hq looks really good.

You must be excited now.

That link doesn't work Kate, my name is Samantha cleeton so search for me. I think I'm the only one :-)

Hi guys!

I'm not going to be there at exactly the same time as you (I'm aiming to fly out in May) but our paths may cross. I've heard the Greenhouse backpackers is supposed to be good? I've been to Melbourne before but as a teenager and I stayed with family so I don't have first hand experience of the backpacker scene. St Kilda is supposedly the place to be though!
